Mississippi Power keeping employees cool with new vest tech

Mississippi Power is attempting to keep its workers cool in this oppressive heat.

Linemen and ground workers have been equipped with cooling vests made by Cooling Shirt Systems.

This new technology allows workers to be more efficient fixing power lines and electrical systems without taking as many breaks.

The vest is hooked up to an ice chest connecting to pipes which are woven into the vest and then placed on the back and the torso area.

The vest is estimated to allow workers to work two hours without breaks.
